About Symphony NH
Founded in 1923, Symphony NH (SNH), based in Nashua, New Hampshire, directly on the border with Massachusetts and less than an hour from Boston. SNH serves as New Hampshire’s oldest professional orchestra. Now celebrating its 95th season, SNH has just completed a new Music Director search and is the cornerstone of the performing arts in southern New Hampshire. What began as a small community orchestra has developed into a fully professional ensemble serving audiences in multiple cities. Today the SNH reaches more than 25,000 people each year; an additional 6,000 children, adults, and seniors participate in education and community events annually. The orchestra’s season includes five symphonic subscription programs performed in multiple cities, two or three SNH Presents popular concerts, two or three education programs, two holiday pops concerts, one or two family concerts, an annual gala, and partnership performances with regional arts organizations or universities. As a result of new audience development initiatives, the average attendance at SNH performances has grown by 10 percent in the past two years and individual gifts have increased by 30 percent.
SNH is governed by a Bo...ard of Trustees and is supported by a full-time administrative staff. The Friends of the Symphony are volunteers who support the orchestra through fundraising projects and special events while increasing visibility throughout the community. The current operating budget is $900,000 and the orchestra has an endowment of $600,000.
