Director, Advancement Marketing Analytics - University Advancement-2013026
Carnegie Mellon is enjoying its most productive fundraising years in its history, raising more than $500M over the last three years. University Advancement supports the entire CMU community in securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking a Director, Advancement Marketing Analytics with a passion for higher education and who appreciates the role of philanthropy in enabling the university to accomplish its mission. You will report to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Communications and Marketing. You will contribute to the department by providing leadership in the analysis of data to provide actionable information to shape and evaluate strategies for the Division of University Advancement's communications and marketing team, including the annual giving program. You will be a senior member of the division's communications and marketing team, responsible for developing and reporting audience insights to aid in defining segmentation strategies, creating reports that provide relevant data and analysis to measure progress and guide strategy, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and tactics. You will cultivate collaborative relationships to understand the specific business needs of colleagues, identify opportunities and develop tools that advance those needs, and evaluate the effectiveness with which those needs are being met. You may manage a team of technical professionals.
Core responsibilities will include:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Providing meaning to the vast amount of communications, marketing and annual giving data from a variety of sources to guide strategy and tactics;
Developing, measuring and reporting key performance indicators and metrics for division's communications and marketing efforts;
Providing audience insights to guide strategy for Advancement Communications and Marketing team, including Annual Giving, by increasing understanding of individual and group characteristics and behavior;
Identifying opportunities in underserved audiences for increased engagement activities;
Developing reporting tools and dashboards to assist with performance measurement of programs, communications and solicitations;
Collaborating and providing counsel on the development, execution and evaluation of strategies based on data and analysis;
Developing and maintaining measures for acquisition and retention costs, and ROI for Annual Giving program;
Benchmarking programs against peer and aspirational organizations;
Performing related duties as assigned.

You should be able to travel and willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
Master's degree in statistics, decision science or related field;
7-10 years of experience as a data analyst, report writer or programmer;
Experience with SQL; familiarity in report writing using appropriate reporting tools;
Proficiency with Salesforce and the Marketing Cloud tool;
Ability to learn and adjust quickly to the database environment;
Experience in higher education and/or large institution fundraising or marketing communications is preferred;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
Creativity in developing innovative marketing and communications strategies.
