Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, School of Public Health, is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, for its Dean’s Office.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator assists in the development, oversight, and implementation of all strategies related to the School of Public Health (SPH) communications, public relations, marketing, and event planning. This position is located in Piscataway, NJ but will require travel to University campuses.
Provides direct communications and marketing support to SPH under the direction of the Marketing Manager.
Supports and coordinates SPH communication efforts including communications within the College, throughout Rutgers University, and to various external stakeholders.
Works with SPH faculty and administrative leaders to promote faculty engagement with press, media, and other external partners to facilitate community engagement and research dissemination in line with the SPH strategic plan.
Assists Marketing Manager in the development and maintenance of web content for sph.rutgers.edu.
Maintains digital and print marketing materials to communicate our efforts and focus on multiple markets and stakeholders, including prospective funders and partners.
Assists Marketing Manager in creating and maintains faculty profiles.
Creates and maintains a multi-media database of student, faculty, and staff narratives and editorials that can be shared throughout different points with various stakeholders for the advancement of SPH.
Assists with editing and revising communiques from the Dean and other leadership to keep important constituencies informed about news and events within SPH.
Drafts press releases highlighting key new findings of faculty when newsworthy and engage in proactive outreach to media when faculty are comfortable with a “public scholar” role.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, Journalism or related fields.
Two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience with graphic and web design tools, video editing, research and designing computer interfaces for user input.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in content management tools and social media networks is needed.
Must possess excellent communications (verbal and written) and research skills.
Must be able to handle high volume and rigid deadlines.
Experience with professional photography, video production and editing is necessary.
Proficient in web, graphic and motion design.
Must have an excellent command of the following software programs: Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe CS Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash).
Proficient in web, graphic and motion designed.
Writing articles for online and print publications, assisting with SPH social media marketing efforts, identifying opportunities to brand SPH; facilitates the direct marketing of research activities, clinical advances, and community-outreach programs.
Computer skills include data entry, word processing, and graphic design experience.
Attention to detail and research experience are valuable assets.
At least one (1) year of experience working in an academic medical center environment.
Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe CS Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash).
