The Director of Marketing owns and implements the marketing strategy for University College and its affiliated programs, developing and implementing a comprehensive and tailored strategy that meets or exceeds target enrollment goals within budget. Responsibilities include strategy development in collaboration with program owners and key stakeholders, vendor management, and ownership of the College's media plan, website, social media, email builds and strategy, and CRM. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed budget in line with allocated spend. Manages the enrollment nurturing strategies for University College, coordinating the development of program-specific content in-line with the content calendar and tailoring marketing content to meet the needs of post-admit students. Develops and manages a strategy for University College program alumni, working with Directors and Program Directors to meet their needs and establish regular communication patterns, being sensitive to cross-marketing opportunities. The position engages with the rest of the department as a team player, ready to help where needed, problem solve, and work towards the greater good of the University as a whole. This position is for someone who gets things done, who has an all-hands-on-deck mentality, and is comfortable having clear performance targets and being measured against them on a regular basis.
Owns the development and implementation of fully integrated enrollment marketing strategies to enroll students in University College and affiliated programs and actively engage a wide range of internal and external constituencies (e.g., students, parents, alumni, partners) and develops and manages a program budget; all in line with program goals
Develops and manages a marketing budget
Works closely with the Program Directors, Marketing Vendor, and school-based stakeholders, oversees and / or completes the content development and delivery for enrollment marketing initiatives including email marketing, newsletters, landing pages, presentations, social media marketing, paid advertising, videos, print and other collateral; and identifies and manages relationships with external vendors and agencies.
Tracks and evaluates the performance of marketing activities, reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements to the marketing plan. Interprets metrics and analytics requested from vendors and University Communications & Marketing to inform strategic decision making; reports out on metrics and analytics regularly to key stakeholders
Develops and implements email content and campaigns for specific audiences or processes not served by the vendor, including but not limited to process emails, Tufts channel emails, post-enrollment emails, and alumni emails as well as internal communications about University College (within UC and within the university)
Updates, maintains, and develops content for program websites and social media. Advocates for and facilitates placement of program content on university and school-based websites, social media, and related assets.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with academic departments, faculty, student life staff, advisors and administrative units. Work collaboratively and as a team player with the rest of the University College team. Host regular progress update meetings with all key stakeholders
Assess and refine programs through continuous improvement processes.
Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of experience in a professional marketing strategy role
In-depth knowledge of digital, email, and influencer marketing and demonstrated ability to identify and target new markets.
Experience developing marketing plan and media spends with a proven ability to exercise sound, data driven decision making.
Excellent critical thinking skills; ability to manage and evaluate competing priorities and juggle multiple tasks to completion.
Superior organizational skills and ability to manage and execute multiple projects.
Excellent writing and copyediting skills.
Experience working as an individual contributor with the ability to execute the day-to-day, while working collaboratively across the school and larger university.
Experience with Google Analytics, social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIN), Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with at least some of the following: Hubspot / Pardot / Salesforce CRM / SLATE (or similar), Drupal (or similar), basic graphic design software
Must have a sense of humor, a positive attitude, be collaborative and a team player
10-15 years of experience in a professional marketing strategy role
Relevant experience in consumer products or higher education
