The Office of Marketing and Communications designs and implements a comprehensive, unified marketing and communications effort for the Haas School of Business and its degree and non-degree instructional programs, research centers, public service activities, and external relations activities. The Office is responsible for managing the Haas School/UC Berkeley brand image by providing strategic marketing and communications advice and planning to the Dean, the Dean’s Council, program directors, other senior staff and faculty throughout the School. The Office is also responsible for developing and managing a broad range of initiatives in marketing, print and digital communications, media relations, and community relations to promote greater external understanding and recognition of the Haas School’s contributions.
The Content Marketing Manager is a top contributor to building awareness and consideration for the Berkeley MBA by providing strategic and tactical marketing support. S/he is passionate about connecting with the target audience through copy on an emotional level, manages web site production, and aligns output with institutional goals and the target audience. The position reports to the Director of Marketing & Technology.
•Meets and consults with clients on a variety of electronic communications projects including moderately complex assignments, and develops, presents, and recommends web content and visual material. •Works with management and clients to create, develop, and implement short- and long-term strategic communications plans for attracting, converting and nurturing prospective students throughout the customer journey. •Advises and consults with internal clients regarding all aspects of marketing and communications, including developing strong marketing communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired messages to diverse constituents. . •Manages comprehensive communications programs for the Berkeley MBA and other degree programs, including written, visual and digital communications. •Works closely with colleagues on the Haas Marketing and Communications team, internal clients, and/or vendor partners to create, edit and update branded and value-added content on Berkeley Haas websites. •Includes, but not limited to, the development and execution of blog stories, gated offers, site updates, and digital activations such as tools, calculators, and videos. •Ensure content aligns with SEO best practices. •Collaborate with social media marketers to align efforts and promote Berkeley Haas. •Accountable for ensuring technical accuracy and understandability of website content. •Maintains Berkeley Haas brand across all programs, campaigns and projects. •Helps to develop Haas School policies, style guides and standards in all marketing material. •Maintains currency with emerging and state-of-the-art technical and other web-related equipment, requirements and developments (for example, accessibility issues) and recommends and as directed, takes action to ensure compliance. •Create, analyze and report on metrics that measure the performance and outcomes of efforts, and evaluates the effectiveness of strategies and tactics, making improvements and course corrections as indicated.•3-5 years of content marketing experience •Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications. •Thorough understanding of the ideas and principles behind Inbound marketing, including when and how to use specific channels such as blogging, social media marketing, search engine optimization, eBook/white paper/video content creation, website updates, email marketing, and others. •Demonstrated experience developing effective content that appeals to diverse populations– including historically marginalized communities. •Strong knowledge of analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, and the ability to analyze marketing campaign results, evaluate their effectiveness and adjust tactics accordingly. •Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target and/or broad general audiences. •Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, editorial style, and punctuation, including skill to write in a clear and lively style. •Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills. •Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work. •Thorough knowledge of content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for web site production, and campus-specific computer application programs. •Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education. Knowledge of the Haas School’s strategic priorities. •Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and work effectively in teams. •Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work on several tasks simultaneously while maintaining high-production/high-quality standards. •Thorough understanding of institutional processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications. •Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities. •Thorough interpersonal communication skills. •Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
Education/Training: •Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
