Responsible for supporting the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information, Marketing & Event Management in managing and promoting the 13 intercollegiate athletics teams at Purdue Northwest. Specific responsibilities include: departmental communications and promotions, statistical help, website management, game day responsibilities, social media management and managing student workers. This job may be assigned certain sports as primary coverage sports, while assisting in other sports as needed. Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regulations in the performance of job duties. This position reports directly to the Purdue Northwest Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information, Marketing & Event Management.
In addition to regular home athletics events, the applicant will also be expected to attend and work a number of special events hosted by the department, including but not limited to Fall Sports Festival, Late Night Madness and golf outings. Evening and weekend hours with some travel are expected with this position.
Anticipated Start Date: August 2019
Bachelor’s degree required with a major in communications, journalism, sports management or related field preferred. Prior work experience in a college sports information office is required. Familiarity with StatCrew software, preferably with volleyball and basketball, is strongly preferred. Prior experience with desktop publishing, preferably with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, is also strongly preferred.
Must be accepted into the Purdue University Northwest graduate program and enroll in a minimum of six credits.
