The Technology & Innovation Development Office (TIDO) of Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified person to join our growing team of professionals in technology licensing and commercialization. The Marketing Communications Specialist manages communication and marketing with internal and external stakeholders to increase the visibility and awareness of the Office as well as hospital-developed technologies, intellectual property and research collaboration opportunities. Working closely with the business development team, the Marcom Specialist will develop and produce content through digital and print means, such as newsletters, reports, website, and social media postings, to communicate Boston Children' research and licensing opportunities to external stakeholders and educate internal stakeholders about technology commercialization. The Marcom Specialist is also responsible for planning and hosting networking, education and training events, and liaise with external organizations in event planning and hosting.
This position requires experience in the field of communications; able to take technical and scientific content and condense it down to concise and interesting copy by utilizing excellent writing skills; the innate ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as with a team; and a level of ease with networking and build strong working relationships across internal departments and external partners.
Serving as primary office communications manager for the TIDO web site, digital and print reports, social media, press, trade shows and other marketing materials.
Managing and creating new content related to hospital technologies and research innovations.
Coordinating communication with other hospital departments about hospital research, innovation.
Managing TIDO's outreach and networking effort, including creating events and education seminars.
Managing communication and marketing strategies to increase the interest in and visibility of hospital research and innovation.
Managing and curating the office's contact database.
Assisting TIDO staff in licensing, business development and technology development effort.
Experience and knowledge of marketing theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing or related field.
Experience and understanding of academic research, academic medical centers, and the life science and medical device industries. Bachelor or master degree in related field is preferred.
Experience and ability to effectively manage multiple marketing communications projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communications skills—verbal and written—and ability/agility working with people at various levels. An eye for detail as well as proficiency with proofreading and copyediting.
A minimum of one year of marketing communications experience in the scientific research or life sciences industry.
Strong organizational, time and project management skills; attention to detail; problem-solving skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
The position requires a team player who is able to function effectively in a highly complex organizational environment but also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in website designs, social media activities, graphic design software and customer relationship management (CRM) software preferred.
