CI, a 33+ year old association management firm located in Reston, VA, is looking for an individual to manage the membership, programs and marketing efforts for clients. Our offices are almost directly across the street from the Reston Town Center - easily accessible and free parking!
This position is part of our team responsible for managing two organizations (one national and one regional). This position works closely with volunteers from the respective industries and the tasks range from developing educational sessions, coordinating and managing the call for papers process; manage the speaker selection process for a major conference; manage related committee meetings, "lunch & learns," webinars, etc. The industry focus of the organizations is direct marketing and the nonprofit sector.
The ideal candidate is flexible, able to handle several projects, have strong customer-service skills and understands how to work with volunteers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with volunteer committees to develop educational programs; assist in marketing those programs.
Manage the speakers
Manage the Call for Papers process for a national 2400+ person conference
Manage a variety of small meetings, educational sessions and workshops (e.g., lunch & learns; day-long programs, etc.)
Develop and manage budgets
Manage sponsor benefits for small events
Work with in-house meeting planner on event details
Participate in the strategic planning process for all meetings and events to ensure continual improvement
Assist in developing relationships with clients.
Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the client and CI.
4+ years' experience with an association or membership organization
4+ years' experience in planning educational programs
4+ years' experience planning and budgeting – must have excellent budgeting skills
Experience in managing a call for papers process
Strong proof-reading skills (assists with proof-reading association’s monthly newsletter)
Must be proficient with Word and Excel;
PowerPoint skills are a plus
Knowledge of GrowthZone and EventRebels is a plus
Overall, must have excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail and strong organizational skills; comfortable working independently and in a team environment; ability to provide excellent customer service; professional manner; ability to multi-task as individual works on a variety of programs simultaneously.
