Position Description AOPA seeks a strong and experienced leader to lead the organization’s communications and marketing efforts. The successful candidate will provide vision, leadership, and implementation of strategic communications, sustainability branding, and media relations across print, electronic, and multichannel platforms. This role will position the industry as a sustainability leader by building awareness among the public and members. Working closely within AOPA’s executive leadership team, and at the direction of the Executive Director, the individual will work closely with internal colleagues, multiple consultants, and be responsible for all aspects of communications and marketing for the organization. This position works closely with and reports directly to the Executive Director. Responsibilities - Creates and implements strategic communication plans in the areas of public awareness; national, local, and trade media relations; external stakeholder relations; and social media to position AOPA as a leading authority on industry issues and enhance the visibility, perception, and reputation of the Association and the industry.
- Develops and coordinates the promotion of AOPA programs, products, services, and events to members, target markets, and key stakeholders through clear and consistent communications and marketing to support strategic goals.
- Directs, writes, edits, and manages content for outgoing communications including monthly magazine, newsletters, blog posts, social media channels, videos, news stories, membership recruiting materials, sponsorship brochures, e-mail campaigns, articles for external media sources, presentations, and other collateral as required.
- Working collaboratively with internal colleagues, generates a compelling value proposition for AOPA’s programs and events to drive branding and messaging.
- Identifies and employs new communication tactics, marketing products, engagement tools, and distribution channels to improve delivery and recognition.
