Job Requisition Number: 25454. The Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies teaches performance as a mode of critical inquiry, creative expression and public engagement. Through performance training and research, we create liberal arts graduates with expanded analytical, technical and imaginative capacities. This position involves the marketing and/or selling of campus activities, services, or products including sale of retail merchandise and event tickets; or provides marketing support activities. Involves the analysis of identified constituencies/audiences and the development of programs, services, and outreach to meet identified needs and influence public perception; responsible for department specific and special campus fundraising initiatives; may involve 'brand' development or enhancement; may involve working with the media (press, television, radio).
•Coordinates communication designed to promote awareness of the Department and its programs and productions within the campus community and the general public. •Handles departmental emails, newsletters, internet and web presence, social media, submissions to online calendars. •Manages systems to streamline communication channels. •Coordinates design, production, and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, including season brochure, posters, postcards, alumni newsletter, promotional emails, press releases, advertisements, brochures, flyers, signage, displays, et cetera. •Maintains archive of promotional materials. •Supervises graphic designers and/or manages the process of creating marketing materials. •Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing and press professionals and vendors; e.g. artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts/critics, et cetera. •Builds relationships with outside (non-campus affiliated) companies and organizations. •Researches, analyzes, monitors and evaluates marketing efforts for effectiveness, reporting results to appropriate higher levels of administration. •In collaboration with the MSO and Chair, determine appropriate budget forecasts and provide budget reconciliation. •Coordinates and oversees all photo/video shoots for promotional and archival photos/video on all main stage and workshop productions; maintains photo archive. •Provides department website management and design updates. •In collaboration with staff, coordinate Box Office support for productions. •Maintains Department relationship with alumni. •Plans and executes annual donor solicitations to include Big Give, End-of Year Ask, Give to Berkeley, and other campus driven initiatives. •Undertakes research and grant-writing activities for the Program to secure extramural funding for departmental productions, events, and curriculum.•Thorough knowledge of application and use of statistics and research practices in developing marketing strategies. •Thorough knowledge of the campus' products and services. •Thorough analytical and written communication skills. •Excellent knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources. •Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. •Thorough, strong project management skills. •Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. •Strong skills in event and media activities management. •Skill in mentoring less experienced staff. •Experience in the arts preferred. •Extensive and proven writing and copy-editing experience.
