Detailed Job Description Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Life, New Student Orientation, the Assistant Director of Campus Life, Marketing is essential in creating a vibrant and engaging culture that enhances the student experience. Major Responsibilities The Assistant Director is responsible for aspects of the Center for Campus Life's (CCL) marketing and communications initiatives. The Assistant Director provides leadership and strategic direction for para-professionals and undergraduate design staff including web developers, photographers, and digital content staff. In collaboration with the Associate Director, New Student Orientation and the Associate Director, Programs and Events, the Assistant Director contributes to the staffing, planning, design and execution of New Student Orientation and the approval and oversight of all sizes of student events. New Student Orientation and Pre-Orientation: Actively supports the execution of a five-day fall New Student Orientation program including the recruitment, selection, and training of more than 200 student leaders. Additionally, the Assistant Director will take the lead in development and oversight of DiscoveRIT, which is a comprehensive pre-orientation program. Collaborate with campus partners from across the university to ensure the success of the programs offered. Conduct nation-wide research and benchmarking for similar pre-orientation programs. Marketing and Communications: Manage the Center for Campus Life marketing and communications initiatives. Supervise and provide strategic direction for para-professionals and undergraduate student design staff, web developers, photographers, and digital content staff; work with divisional and university partners to promote and support engagement opportunities. Provide approval for all student event and club marketing items including posters, flyers, banners, clothing, and other marketing pieces as necessary. Event Management and Registration Process: Provide support in the oversight of the event management and registration process including working closely with service providers in approving student events, managing communication, seeking approval from campus partners (i.e. Campus Safety, Catering, and Facilities Management Services) when appropriate, and in conjunction with other members of the CCL team, providing guidance for approving or denying all events. This position requires a dynamic up and coming Student Affairs professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of college student development, and strong administrative, organizational, and problem solving abilities. A commitment to developing/supporting an inclusive/diverse community based upon the recognition of student rights and academic goals to foster learning and growth is essential. This position works closely with more than 200 student leaders, numerous campus partners, and a wide range of community members to advance the mission of the department, the Division of Student Affairs, and RIT.
