The Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) unit at the Haas School of Business develops and executes alumni relations and fundraising programs, events communications and activities to engage Haas’ 40,000+ alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends. The unit consists of 30 full-time staff members who are responsible for achieving and growing fundraising results, strengthening the alumni network, and furthering engagement through programming, lifelong learning and volunteer opportunities.
The Assistant Director of Event and Campaign Marketing is a key member of the marketing team and is responsible for developing email and print collateral for Development and Alumni Relations events and activities including Reunion, Homecoming, Gala, Donor Appreciation Week, Big Give and donor stewardship activities. The Assistant Director of Event and Campaign Marketing must have excellent writing, design, and project management skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications. She/He will develop creative design concepts and write copy and will work with graphic designers and printers to create and send invitations, flyers, note cards and other marketing collateral. She/He should have a keen eye for design and a strong creative sense while working within the school’s branding guidelines.
•Coordinates activities including events and promotional materials and products designed to promote awareness of the department and/or campus services, programs or products within the campus community or to the general public. •Creates email and print marketing schedule and develops marketing copy and invitation design for Development and Alumni Relations events including Reunion, Homecoming, Gala, Donor Appreciation Week, Big Give and other events and activities. •Writes marketing copy for Development and Alumni Relations events and activities. •Develops creative concepts for note cards, holiday cards, event shells, birthday cards, and other donor stewardship activities. Crafts and sends stewardship and cultivation communications. •Works with Advancement Services to create invitation lists for events and communications. •Drafts, designs, and sends email communications through Cvent and SalesForce Marketing Cloud. •Develops early notification system to inform leadership donors about upcoming events. •Creates events brochures, programs, signage, stickers, and handouts. •Researches, analyzes, monitors and evaluates marketing and/or sales efforts for effectiveness, reporting results to appropriate higher levels of administration. •Develops and sends post event surveys and compiles and disseminates survey results to event and program managers. •Analyzes key metrics and survey result trends and makes recommendations when appropriate. •Assesses effectiveness of event outreach and adjusts marketing schedule and copy to increase event attendance •Creates, develops, produces and coordinates public events, including securing private corporate sponsorship as required. •Coordinates on-campus outreach activities supporting the Big Give, Donor Appreciation Week, and new parents’ reception. •Develops and executes social media activity for fundraising events. •Coordinates design, production and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, including internet or web materials, press releases, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, flyers, signage, A/V presentations, displays, exhibits, et cetera. •Coordinates advertisements featured in the alumni magazine in collaboration with the magazine editor. •Creates poster boards and other products for Development and Alumni Relations events. •Coordinates appropriate use of campus and/or department logos, emblems, et cetera •Administers marketing and/or sales budget(s) as assigned, ensuring that budget goals are met; as required meets revenue generating goals through effective relationships with external sources. •Develops creative briefs for new projects and requests proposals and purchasing paperwork from vendors. •Works with department staff to ensure adherence to policies and timely payment to vendors. •Researches and analyzes new and innovative methods for generating revenue and develops implementation proposals. •Benchmarks best practices at other institutions.-Thorough knowledge of the campus, including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure. -Thorough knowledge of the campus' products and services. -Thorough analytical and written communication skills. -Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources. -Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. -Thorough, strong project management skills. -Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. -Strong skills in event and media activities management. -Skill in mentoring less experienced staff. -Keen eye for graphic design and experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. -Knowledge of SalesForce Marketing Cloud, Cvent, or other email marketing tools. -Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training |
