The Questrom School of Business at Boston University anticipates an opening for a tenured associate professor in Marketing, with a focus in the area of health marketing, for a position starting July 1, 2018, subject to Provost budgetary approval.
The Questrom School is building a strong group of faculty with expertise in health and life sciences, an area of strategic focus for the School. Health research is supported by and centered around the BU-wide Institute for Health System Innovation & Policy, which unites the BU Medical School, School of Public Health, and Questrom School of Business. Questrom is also committed to the health sector in its curricular endeavors, as supported by a thriving and CAMI-certified Health Sector Management MBA.
We seek outstanding candidates who would be stimulated by and engaged with this vibrant cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary academic community focused on health. Specifically, we are seeking an individual who can provide leadership in scholarship and curriculum development around healthcare marketing and raise the visibility and impact of Questrom's work in this area. The ideal candidate will have a strong research record with scholarly contributions that significantly advance theory and inform health management and policy decisions.
The Marketing Department comprises an interdisciplinary group of scholars who develop consumer and firm knowledge using insights and methods from marketing, psychology, economics, anthropology, and computer science. We are open to scholars who examine substantive health issues and problems from a variety of methodological and theoretical perspectives. The ideal candidate should be passionate about developing, seeking funding for, and leading school-wide research efforts that focus on improving healthcare systems and processes from the consumer perspective. Possible areas of interest include how consumers navigate the healthcare marketplace and the implications for healthcare delivery; medical decision-making by consumers and professionals; channels of distribution and healthcare delivery; consumers' healthcare financing and risk assessments; pricing of healthcare services; product/service design in a healthcare context; and innovative models of global health delivery.
