The Lincoln Park Conservancy, Chicago, seeks a full-time Development and Marketing Manager to solicit donations for our programs and park projects, support our Board's membership committee, our annual gala committee, and the Executive Director. The Manager will assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events, and the implementation of our annual marketing plan. A sampling of the other responsibilities include managing the annual fund, researching donor prospects, creating marketing materials with our graphic designer, and managing our website, e-newsletters and social media.
Solicit donations from established donors and new prospects under the guidance of the Executive Director.
Support the Board of Director's membership committee, annual gala committee, and Executive Director.
Maintain live and silent auction logs, create certificates and auction displays for the annual gala.
Plan and execute from A-to-Z small to mid-sized special events such as fundraisers, cultivation events, volunteer appreciation/retention parties, and meetings.
Manage annual fund direct mailings, online giving forms, and other solicitation methods.
Research donor prospects.
Maintain donor database and pull regular reports.
Write and send all donor acknowledgement letters.
Send annual membership renewal letters.
Maintain annual grant writing calendar.
Assist with development and implementation of annual marketing plan and calendar.
Work with graphic designer to create various approved marketing materials.
Maintain and build media list.
Write and distribute press releases.
Monitor website and make approved edits.
Create monthly social media posts calendar with staff.
Research new ways to promote general awareness.
Assist at public meetings and other community outreach events.
Answer phones and disseminate information to callers about our programs, projects and events.
Maintain IT systems and office equipment.
Assist with special projects.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, three to four years experience working in a non-profit development department, and a demonstrated ability to raise funds for a non-profit organization. Previous gala and special event experience is required. Previous experience working with Board members and volunteer committees is a must.
We are looking for a polished professional with the charm and ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of people from various backgrounds as needed to cultivate donors and prospects. Experience promoting a positive image of a nonprofit organization, and maintaining relationships with volunteers, vendors and the public.
Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks. Excellent writing, research and editing skills with the ability to construct compelling and professional copy for print, email and web communications.
Technical experience with computer hardware and software with an on-going desire to stay abreast of and adapt to new technologies/systems. Proficient in Windows, MS Office (including mail merge); In-Deisgn and Photoshop a plus. Door Perfect knowledge a plus.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for parks, the environment, and public open space, who will be dedicated to the organization's mission, values and philosophy.
Ability to lift, carry and transport event materials. Access to own vehicle preferred. Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.
The Lincoln Park Conservancy, established in 1984, is a non-profit organization that picks up where the Chicago Park District leaves off, taking on capital improvement projects and programming that are important to the park, but do not fit into the city budget. We privately fund park improvements of every size from historic buildings and monuments to natural areas, gardens and playscapes. We co-manage our restored park sites with the Chicago Park District in a unique partnership.
