The marketing specialist is a member of the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Marketing Communications team. This position is responsible for assisting with digital content development and serves as the day-to-day “go to” person for all marketing needs. In addition, this position will collaborate with the team regarding online marketing communications efforts and strategy, as well as provide editorial support.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
Content Development and Creation - 40%
Collaborate with the Marketing Communications team to develop, write, edit, and maintain engaging digital content.
Support content strategy and design visually appealing digital assets for online use.
Collaborate with the team on large-scale strategic efforts including advertising campaigns, print projects, online and media promotion.
Mass Email Creation, Management & Distribution - 40%
Create and manage email content and lists.
Analyze and follow mass email best practices..
Design email templates using the University’s enterprise mass email tools.
Track and report on email performance.
Serve as a subject matter expert in email creation and distribution.
Editorial Support – 20%
Fact check and proofread materials; assist in research for content development.
Maintain digital asset library.
Evaluate digital performance and develop reports.
Conduct market research.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field, or four years combined equivalent education and experience
Demonstrated experience in content marketing and utilizing CMS systems
Demonstrated experience writing for a variety of platforms, email, articles, web copy, social media and advertisements
Demonstrated/documented fundamental understanding of content strategy principles and interest in strategic communications
Experience/proficiency with HTML and CSS
Experience/proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated experience utilizing mass email systems to reach segmented audiences
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and work independently
Demonstrated strong oral and written communications skills
Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Experience using Drupal
Strong project management, organization, and multitasking skills
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines
Google Analytics proficiency. Must be able to set up customized dashboards and reports, Google Tag manager and cross-domain tracking
