Under the direction of the Director of Recreation Department this position provides leadership for and develops, plans and executes integrated communications and marketing plans for the Parks and Recreation Department; supervises the marketing/communications team; participates in general departmental management duties as part of the management team; and works closely with District communications, marketing and revenue development managers on District strategies and priorities. The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies to meet or exceed multi-million dollar revenue goals and other organizational objectives for the department. Position works independently within broad guidelines; supervises and evaluates staff; and has budget decision-making responsibility.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field desired.
Minimum of 10 years of marketing, communications, journalism or related experience, including at least three years managing programs and staff.
In place of the above requirements, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.
