The Marketing and Communications Manager position is responsible for the planning and execution of internal and external University-wide communications programs supporting and promoting the Office of Physical Plant. Under the supervisor of the AVP, the position will ensure alignment of OPP's mission and strategic planning with the University's mission and vision. Primary duties of the position include supervision of one employee and development and oversight of a communications strategy to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Office of Physical Plant and its associated units. The successful candidate will oversee OPP web presence and should be well-versed in Facebook, Twitter and other social networking platforms. In addition, the position will offer communications support for internal and external initiatives and assist during crisis situations to manage information as well as acting as spokesperson for OPP. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Experience as a reporter, writer, producer or public affairs specialist is preferred. Experience with AP style required. Requires exceptional news judgment, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
