The Intercollegiate Athletics Department has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Marketing Assistant (Information Specialist 1).
The Marketing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the overall marketing and promotion schedule for the 22 Husky Athletic Teams. They will be assigned as the Marketing and Outreach lead, under direct supervision, for specific Sports (i.e. M/W Soccer, Women's Basketball, Softball, etc.) and support all efforts for the other ticketed sports. This position will promote the University of Washington brand in an effort to increase attendance and generate revenue for the department.
Marketing Responsibilities Include:
Under direct supervision, create strategic incentives, such as auxiliary events and programming, designed to drive attendance and/or increase revenue for various ticketed sports.
Work closely with the Ticket Office to develop mini-plans and promotional opportunities for various sports. Help to identify packages that would drive attendance and revenue.
Assist with initiatives to drive Dawg Pack (student section) attendance at all sports. Plan and participate in regular meetings with the Dawg Pack to hear their feedback.
Collaborate with the multimedia and video production teams to promote upcoming events and ticket packages via print and various video channels.
Work with New Media Team on all web, email and social efforts including target marketing through social media by helping to segment a target audience for a specific event.
Coordinate with Band, Cheer & Mascots, on events and opportunities for mutually beneficial appearances.
Collaborate with Game Day Experience team to fulfill sponsor agreements in game scripts and in- game promotions.
Assist with the hiring, training and mentoring of all volunteer Marketing Interns, including providing professional development opportunities for them.
Assign volunteer interns tasks during office hours and on event days.
Train volunteer interns to plan and execute promotions and events of their own while providing guidance and feedback along the way.
The Marketing Assistant will be asked to work 5-20 hours per week over a 12-month period. The hours for this position are flexible and can be balanced with additional part-time employment. Select evenings and weekends are required.
Bachelor of Arts' Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field. Additional full-time writing/editing experience may substitute year-for-year for educational requirement.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Photoshop. Highly motivated, creative, self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong leader and mentor, especially to students.
Minimum of one year of professional experience in marketing, promotions, or events.
