The Director, Marketing and Communications oversees the planning, development, and implementation of a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives for Alumni Relations and Development. The Director develops integrated communication strategies, and ensures that projects are completed on time and on budget, with the highest quality standards. This position serves as the main liaison with internal colleagues across the division, working with them to develop marketing \programs that contribute to the division’s goals. The Director also oversees the development of content for print, digital and face-to-face communications. Serve as the back-up to the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications on priority projects for senior leadership and the overall management of the Marketing and Communications function.
This position specifically serves the following Alumni Relations and Development client groups: Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement, and Reunion Programs.
Work with the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications to develop strategies and campaigns to engage and motivate alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and donors, and contribute to the engagement and fundraising goals.
Collaborate with colleagues within Alumni Relations and Development to determine the communication needs for enhancing the engagement and participation of alumni and other constituents
Identify audience segments, communication goals and strategies, and determine the most effective vehicles and timing for deployment
Develop new communication vehicles, from concept through execution
Stays updated on trends and best practices in client areas.
Oversee project management for a variety of print, digital and face-to-face communications for assigned client groups
Coordinate project management from discovery to post-deployment support
Manage the workflow of incoming and ongoing projects
Determine the allocation of resources (staffing and budget) for each project
Develop timelines and action plans and ensure timely completion of projects
Oversee communication between the MarComm team and internal clients, managing expectations and ensuring client satisfaction
Analysis & Reporting
Oversee the development, deployment and analysis of surveys to analyze the effectiveness of client programs and events
Develop and employ relevant analysis and metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the marketing and communication programs
Analyze and refine marketing and communication processes in order to achieve continuous improvement
Serve as the back-up to the Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications on the management, and the management of the Marketing and Communications function.
Human Resources /Supervision
Supervise 2-3 staff; providing leadership, coaching and training
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree or appropriate combination of education and experience.
English, journalism, marketing or related field.
10 or more years of relevant experience.
